New to Archery

Have-a-go Sessions

Archery is an all-inclusive sport, and one recognised for it’s huge benefits to mental health, as well as physical. It’s also incredibly sociable allowing individuals, friends and families can shoot side by side on the shooting line.

The best way to get a taste for this fantastic sport is to come along for an informal ‘have-a-go’ session. Here we will get you quickly started on the basics of shooting, and give you the chance to get your arrows in the gold! All equipment will be provided, along with one-to-one support and guidance from our excitable members

We run have-a-go sessions across the year, so please get in touch to find out more, or keep an eye out on upcoming events on our Facebook page

Beginners’ Courses

These are run over 4 sessions during the outdoor season only, sometimes over a week sometimes over 4 weeks. Each of the 4 sessions are 2 hours and all sessions must be completed to qualify for your certificate, which then enables you to join any Archery GB registered target club.

All equipment is supplied for the length of the course and open to 8 years upwards. Juniors must be attended with a parent/guardian throughout the course and must be with the child at all times.

Dates and times will be released via our Facebook page and here on our website. Spaces are limited so must be paid for at time of booking. Cost per person £60 and is non refundable.

Join Our Club

Newark Castle Archers is an open Archery Club and we welcome new members from the age of 8 years old. Our facilities allow us to provide access to all and we encourage anyone with an interest to get involved.

If you are in possession of a GNAS or NFAS card you can apply to become a club member easily by filling out the membership form located at the bottom of this page and forwarding it to us with the relevant membership and insurance fees.

If you are new to the sport we must ask for you to undertake our beginner’s course, which aims to teach new archers about the archery equipment and how to shoot safely. A form shown below needs to be completed and forwarded on to us with the required fee. Please contact us for information about beginner’s courses.
